Pastor Bob and Russel Price co-preach this message about the journey to worship God.
In this last message of a 9 part series, Pastor Bob speaks of David fighting Goliath. David was not fearful of Goliath like the other Israelites (especially Saul, who should have been up to the task because he was the leader). David triumphed over fear and over Goliath because: 1. David cultivated a walk with God in secret. (v. 34) While he was tending the sheep, he spent time with God. 2. God had given David small victories in faith. David shared that he had attacked a bear and a lion snatching a young lamb from their clutches and winning. 3. David was familiar with the spiritual weapons of warfare. He had come to the battle in the name of the Lord.
Courage in the Face of Fear Part 9: “The Courage to Fight A Giant” 1 Samuel 17 Intro – as I bring this series on Courage in the Face of Fear to a close, there is one Biblical character and his story that I cannot overlook…that is David and his encounter with Goliath…probably the best known Bible story of all time…known even by people who don’t know much about the Bible…and it’s full of insight into how God gives us courage in the face of fear… |
