Pastor Mike spoke to us about the importance of consciously choosing to put Christ first. By nature we let distractions rule in our lives. As we seek God He blesses us. Pastor Stew spoke on us following the Holy Spirit through the valleys of disappointment and discouragement to emerge on the other side. Joel 2:28. Acts 2:17, Ephesians 3:20 and Zechariah 8:4-5 are all talking about the vision that the Holy Spirit puts into our hearts. We are to seek those visions.

Pastor Stew used excerpts from the film, The Straight Story, a 1999 film about an elderly curmudgeon who heard about his brother who had had a stroke. Since they hadn't been on speaking terms for many years, Alvin decides to go to his brother Lyle to make things right. He decided to go by lawn mower since he couldn't drive a car, and he hated buses. Based on a true story, the trip across Wisconsin and Iowa was met with many unusual incidents. Pastor Stew made the point of being sensitive to the Holy Spirit when He speaks into our lives to be ready to obey, make things right, serve. As believers, we are to be free from fear and ready to embrace the unknown with which the Lord will bless us. Pastor Stew spoke o 2 Timothy 1 about being a blessing and being blessed by one another. This is what we are called to be in the community of believers. Let us intentionally go out to bless others in the church and in our community. Note: The message was cut off due to technical problems. Pastor Stew presents us with the basic 5 messages of life from cultures around the world.1. Life is Hard. 2. You are not that important, 3. Your life is not about you. 4. You are not in control. 5. You are going to die. In the third message of this series "When the Spirit Comes" Pastor Stew urges us to clean any obstacles out of our lives that block our spiritual ears from hearing the Holy Spirit. Then we are to take the plunge, ready to go on a wild ride because the Christian life is dynamic. As we make plans, we should be ready to be interrupted to alter our plans at the last minute. Hidden blessings are ours if we are ready and willing to obey the Holy Spirit.
Rick Browatzke , our guest speaker, a missionary from Fresno, California, gave a brief testimony today with the encouragement that we should endure in our faith. On Sunday we come to church to find mutual encouragement. During the week, we live out our faith. 1, In order to endure in our faith journey, we must be focused on Jesus and His grace. 2. We must be committed to the mission of making disciples. 3. We must reflect (learn to think clearly) on these things. Pastor Stewart preached on the nearness of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Sometimes He brings us to the bottom, the end of our resources, to draw us close to the Father. We are called to respond to the Holy Spirit's promptings. Fear, anxiety, anger, bitterness all hinder the Spirit from working in our lives. Acts 19 |
